Solway Wetlands Landscape Partnership Evaluation

Shirley Muir Associates completed a final evaluation of the Solway Wetlands Landscape Partnership project in 2017. The project covered a wide range of activities, from improved access to wildlife sites to a new educational facility, from interpretation to artwork, from archaeology to oral history.

We gathered information by a variety of methods including interviews with the Landscape Partnership staff team and partners; an online survey of volunteers engaged in the scheme; an online survey of school teachers involved in the project; visits to key sites to assess the impact of practical conservation and interpretation; and an evaluation workshop for partners exploring their journeys through the project.

Using the information gathered, we set out our findings for the following:

  • Project design and development
  • Governance and partnership working
  • Project implementation
  • Interpretation and identity
  • Impacts for people – volunteers, education and learning, events, community projects
  • Legacy
