Rusland Horizons HLF Landscape Partnership

In 2013, we completed a successful £1.6 million HLF Landscape Partnership Round 1 bid for the Rusland Valley and Fells Partnership for the Rusland Horizons programme. We assessed the proposed programme, drawing out its strengths and weaknesses, particularly in relation to HLF outputs. We worked closely with partners, including representatives of the local community, landowners, the Lake District National Park Authority, Natural England, Cumbria Woodlands and the Forestry Commission, to develop appropriate projects under four themes, to encourage co-operation between partners and to engage the community. This required a good understanding of the needs of the area, the community, HLF and partner objectives.
