Work Starts On Site at Eskdale Mill!

We are contracted as Project Organisers for a £1 million project to restore this historic site and its traditional equipment to full working order, with new reception area, shop, exhibition space, interactive interpretation, volunteer facilities and activities programme.

Following several years consultation, research and planning, funding for the work has been approved from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Copeland Community Fund, Fells & Dales Leader, Pilgrim Trust, Dulverton Trust and Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.

Work began at the start of August with scaffolding going up and specialist conservation builders beginning the 38-week contract to restore the Listed buildings. Roof repairs and stonework restoration will be first on the programme, followed by internal work on the historic machinery plus new lighting etc. Once the building work is done, work on fitting out the various rooms and installing new interpretation and exhibitions can commence early in 2019.
